Mason staff shares science expertise at national conference

April 20, 2007 - Several Mason science teachers recently presented at the
National Science Teachers Association conference in St. Louis. Fourth
grade Mason Intermediate science teacher Steve Sideris, fifth grade Mason
Intermediate science teacher Amy Bleimund, sixth grade Mason Intermediate
science teacher Erika Drake, and seventh grade Mason Middle School science
teacher at Dan Little presented "Assessing Student Learning Through Lesson
Study" during which they shared their experiences with science lesson
study at Mason, and provided tips for participants to start their own
lesson study groups.

Mason High School science teacher Monica Schneider presented "Graphic
Organizers - Take Them With You!" in which participants created graphic
organizers that their students can use to record information needed to be
more scientifically literate.

Elementary Science Curriculum Leader Karen Ansberry presented "More
Picture-Perfect Science Lessons," a program that combines children's
literature, reading strategies, and scientific inquiry
