Warren County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Leslie Meyer declared today that she is a candidate for Judge of Mason Municipal Court.
Meyer, a twelve-year veteran prosecuting Attorney, who currently handles the most serious felony offenses before the highest trial court in Ohio, offered her courtroom experience, close professional relationship with law enforcement, and her strong belief in family as her qualifications to take over as Judge of Mason Municipal Court.
“I proudly announce that I am seeking the office of Judge for Mason Municipal Court,” said Meyer. “I promise the citizens of both the City of Mason and Deerfield Township that as Judge, I will bring legal experience, a proven tough-on-crime approach, as well as honor and stability to our court.”
Meyer recently gained national attention as the lead prosecutor on the case of State v. Thomas James “Jim” Barton. That case involved a police officer who was accused of hiring people to intimidate his wife. Unfortunately, their actions resulted in the officer’s wife being murdered. The trial and guilty verdict were covered gavel-to-gavel by the television shows “48 Hours” and “Forensic Files”.
Meyer has served under Warren County Prosecuting Attorneys Tim Oliver and Rachel Hutzel. She has effectively handled felony trials involving murder, rape, burglary, robbery, and sexual offenses against children, and has a strong working relationship with law enforcement officers across the county, as well as throughout Mason and Deerfield Township. She has a strong record on cases she has handled in the court of appeals. Meyer has also been asked to serve as special prosecutor in other Ohio counties.
Meyer is married to Joe, and together they have three children Jacob, Claire, and Emma. Meyer and her family have been residents of the Mason Municipal Court’s jurisdiction for the past eight years.
